The construction industry is fast-paced, deadline-driven, and physically and mentally demanding. High workloads, safety risks, weather delays, labour shortages, and constantly changing site conditions can all take a toll. In recent years, stress levels across the sector have risen significantly, affecting both personal well-being and job performance. 

Stress and anxiety can paralysis us, but we are not just observers of our lives. We can take action, and now more than ever, construction professionals at all levels need to pay attention to our mental and physical health. This course will focus on stress factors that may be limiting your personal success and will provide specific tools to help you stay effective, productive, and resilient on the job and at home. 

Learning Objectives 

 
  • Understand the science behind stress and its impact on physical safety, focus and decision-making 

  • Recognize the difference between stress and burnout, especially in high-pressure construction environments 

  • Identify internal and external supports to manage stress on and off the job 

  • Focus on increasing positive activities that boost your energy, clarity, and resilience 

Course Content 

  • Understand how stress affects your health and well-being 

  • Identify difference between positive (motivating) and negative (draining) stress 

  • Understand your personal stress threshold and how to recognize when you’re nearing it 

  • Spot early signs of burnout before they become a serious problem 

  • Learn how to build resilience and make small, positive changes to increase your efficiency, resilience and well-being at home and at work
