Fall Protection Awareness (8 Hour)

Description

Nearly 20% of all lost time injuries can be attributed to falls in the workplace. The majority of falls occur on the same level, while others involve falls to a lower level. The latter usually resulting in more serious injuries or death. But here is the good news – falls are preventable. This Fall Protection course will provide participants with an understanding of their responsibilities when working in areas where fall hazards exist, the use of and inspection of the required equipment and the critical controls necessary to reduce the risk of a fall.

Course Content

  • Lost time injuries and statistics
  • Fall Prevention versus Fall Arrest systems
  • Travel restraints
  • Employers, supervisors and workers general precautions and safe working procedures
  • Anchorage or tie-off points, D plate body harness, CSA standards, D ring connecting devices, lifelines, shock absorbing lanyards, horizontal and vertical lifelines
  • Hazards due to pendulum swings
  • Planning guidelines and anchor points
  • Rescue plans
  • Inspection of equipment including: harnesses, buckles, nylon straps, webbing, friction buckles, self-retracting devices
  • Donning a harness, step by step instructions and care, cleaning and life expectancy

Certification

Certification of the fall protection course requires full participation and course attendance. Candidates must achieve 70% on an exam. Upon successful completion, the participant will receive certification that is valid for three years.

 

Delivery Method:  Classroom Session 

Course Fee Includes:  All books and materials, and upon completion a certificate. 

This training session is being offered in partnership with Universal Health & Safety.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for those that are new to the industry or have little to no previous fall protection training. It could also be beneficial for anyone who has let their certification expire for a long period of time.
