Standard/Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Alberta

Description

This two-day program covers the essential modules required for first aid certification while providing a unique first aid training concept that utilizes less theory and workbooks, and more scenarios and practical applications. The practical modules are unique in that participants respond to several mock-ups using live ‘casualties’. No other first aid course has been presented with such enthusiasm and motivation among participants!

This course meets the requirements of CSA Z1210-17 and Alberta OHS.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Recognition of life-threatening injuries
  • Learn to provide intervention until medical aid arrives
  • Demonstrate artificial respiration
  • Demonstrate how to help a choking victim
  • Deal with shock and unconsciousness
  • Deal with severe bleeding
  • First aid for head and spinal injuries
  • Deal with fractures of upper and lower limbs
  • CPR for an adult casualty
  • Demonstrate the use of an AED

Important:  Photo ID is required to receive a certificate.  

CPR Level C can be added to any First Aid class at no charge. (Please let the instructor know at the beginning of the class or add it to your order during registration.) You can also choose to upgrade to CPR Level within 90 days of completing First Aid for an additional $35.00 – Please call 1-800-663-2865 to request this.

Competencies:

Participants are required to complete a written competency check to a minimum 80% level in order to obtain a pass mark, and successfully demonstrate the province-specific practical skill(s) required for certification.

This course meets the requirements of CSA Z1210-17.

Certification is valid for 3 years.

Course Fee Includes:  All books and materials, and upon completion a certificate.

Who Should Attend

This course is for persons assigned to respond to emergencies in the workplace or community as well as those who want to learn first aid, CPR and AED skills.
