FREE! ICBA Member Session! Opioid Poisoning Response Training

Special FREE limited-time training session open to BC and Alberta ICBA members.

Description

In partnership with St John Ambulance's Opioid Poisoning Response Training Program (OPRT), we're excited to offer our members an essential opportunity to tackle opioid poisoning head-on. This trauma-informed and de-stigmatized approach ensures that every participant gains valuable insights and skills to make a difference.

Many communities experience a high rate of opioid use (common in many prescription pain medications) but lack the support needed to manage and prevent poisoning.  This program supports communities that experience barriers by providing free training and nasal naloxone kits.

The program consists of a 2-hour course delivered in a virtual classroom, which includes information on:

  • Stigma & harm reduction
  • How to respond to an opioid poisoning
  • How to administer nasal & intramuscular naloxone
  • Self-care after a traumatic event

Participants who complete the course will receive a FREE nasal naloxone kit ($250 value). An ICBA staff member will connect with you to make arrangments to get your kit.  Naloxone is a medicine that rapidly reverses the effects of opioids in the brain. It is an important tool that can aid in saving the life of someone experiencing an opioid poisoning.

For more information on opioid poisoning and naloxone, visit www.reactandreverse.ca.

This session is only open to ICBA Members. Seats and kits are limited, so register early to reserve your spot!

Delivery Method:  Virtual Session – Zoom Webinar
