The Asbestos Awareness & Abatement Level 2: Asbestos Safety is an 8-9 hour in-person training program with in-person skills assessment, designed to help gain valuable specialized training for individuals involved in asbestos abatement activities with moderate-risk scenarios.

The course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to plan and carry out asbestos abatement tasks safely and efficiently, minimizing the risk of asbestos exposure to workers and the public.

Asbestos Abatement Levels & Planning

  • Differentiate between various asbestos abatement levels, focusing on moderate-risk scenarios.
  • Understand the importance of proper planning for moderate-risk asbestos removal projects.

Abatement Methods and Techniques

  • Learn safe and effective abatement techniques for moderate-risk situations.
  • Explore the use of engineering controls to minimize asbestos exposure during abatement.

Work Practices and Safety Procedures

  • Establish safe work practices and procedures for handling asbestos-containing materials in moderate-risk abatement projects.
  • Understand the selection, use, and maintenance of respiratory protective equipment during abatement.
  • Learn the decontamination procedures for workers and equipment involved in moderate-risk abatement.
  • Discuss proper procedures for handling and disposing of asbestos waste.
  • Understand the importance of air monitoring and clearance testing to ensure a safe environment after abatement.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal regulations related to moderate-risk asbestos abatement.

Note: Access to Level 2 requires successful completion of Level 1, an e-learning module with an in-person completion exam. Registration for Level 1 is included in the Level 2 course fee. Registrants will be given access to the Level 1 course and be expected to complete it prior to attending the in-person Level 2 training.

This course is delivered in partnership with local and provincial construction associations across Canada. You may be participating with a group of industry peers from multiple regions.

Sharing a single registration between two or more individuals is not permitted. Please register each person that will be in attendance.

Prerequisites

  • Recommended English proficiency of CLB 7
  • Have access to a device that meets the system requirements to use Northwest Skills Institute online courses for Level 1
  • Completion of Asbestos Awareness & Abatement Level 1 (included) before joining Level 2
