Safe Excavation
Description
Developed with input from a cross-sector of industries, Locate Management's new online Safe Excavation 0.25 days (up to 2 hours) course is aimed at developing safe excavation skills and attitudes. This e-learning course explains how to excavate safely as part of the ground disturbance process. It discusses soil factors, sloping, benching, scaling and trimming, temporary protective structures and alternatives, worker access, and temporary crossing ramps the necessary process to plan and safely excavate as per applicable regulatory federal and provincial/state requirements, acts and industry best practices.
Course Topics
Objective 1 – Understand soil testing, mechanics, and classification
Objective 2 – Maintain a safe excavation, using sloping and benching procedures
Objective 3 – Select and use appropriate temporary protective structures and supports.
Objective 4 – Ensure safe worker access and egress
Objective 5 – Use temporary crossing mats and ramps
Pass Mark
Testing conducted during this online course is designed to reinforce the information presented. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are able to repeat the course as many times as necessary if the pass mark is not achieved.
Certificate of Completion
Upon successful completion of this online course, a certificate of completion will be available for download and printing. The certificate is valid for 3 years from the course completion date indicated on the certificate.
