Due Diligence for Employers, Managers and Supervisors

This seminar addresses elements of due diligence as required by the Workers Compensation Act.

Description

This educational session on Due Diligence is intended to provide participants with knowledge and understanding of the basic elements associated with “due diligence” as required by the Workers Compensation Act (“Act”) and the enforcement processes that can occur under the Act.

The session is not intended as a comprehensive overview of what constitutes due diligence in your particular workplace. As with all issues related to the workers’ compensation system, if you have further questions after the session, you are welcome to call the EAO and speak to an Adviser for further advice and assistance.

The provided Participant Workbook is a companion to the facilitated session. It contains references to
relevant sections of the Act, the Occupational Health & Safety Regulation, Prevention Policies and Guidelines, as well as additional information.

Managers and Supervisors will gain a better understanding of the legislative and regulatory requirements necessary to demonstrate due diligence in their workplace.

Topics covered: components of due diligence; overview of legal requirements; safety responsibilities in the workplace; responding to due diligence requests; and consequences of failing to prove due diligence, including administrative penalties and prosecutions.

Various materials in this course are used by permission of the Workers’ Compensation Board,
operating as WorkSafeBC.

Delivery Method: Virtual Session - Zoom

Course Fee Includes: Access to the course, course materials (Participant Workbook), and a digital certificate upon completion.

This course is delivered in partnership with local and provincial construction associations across Canada. You may be participating with a group of industry peers from multiple regions.

Sharing a single registration between two or more individuals is not permitted. Please register each person that will be in attendance.
