Making Cent$ of Money: Budgeting 101
Join this free session from the Credit Counseling Society to learn the 7 steps to budgeting which will help you take control of your finances.
Description
Budgeting has gotten a bad reputation as something that is restrictive, boring and doesn’t work. When in reality, a budget is simply a plan for your money based on your priorities and goals. Personally, I don’t have a budget, I have a Spending Plan because really, that is all a budget is, your personal Spending Plan.
Most of us weren’t born knowing how to intuitively manage our money, our parents likely didn’t discuss money at home, and it wasn’t part of the curriculum when we were in school, so we learn by the school of hard knocks.
However, here’s the good news - budgeting is a skill set that anyone can learn! The better news is that we have broken down budgeting into six easy steps. In the Budgeting 101 workshop, you will learn how to:
- Apply meaning to your money;
- Set S.M.A.R.T. financial goals;
- Understand the components of creating an effective budget;
- Track your expenses and identify areas of change;
- Plan and have enough for irregular expenses, emergency savings, and other fun things; and
- Create a paycheque plan that matches your budget!
All participants will walk away with ideas, resources, and the full curriculum upon request.
This workshop is conducted by the Credit Counseling Society of BC.
