Whether communicating for a technical or non-technical audience (or both), apply specific AI prompts to update your content and writing style. Use AI to help you write faster and more efficiently while also recognizing specific AI limitations.
This course will provide you with practical techniques you can apply to immediately improve your writing skills. You’ll understand what you need to do to ensure your emails, construction reports, and other documents are clear.
We’ll cover multiple topics, including:
1. Adopting writing best practices, from planning to drafting to revising for your emails, construction reports, and other documents
2. Using AI to generate and refine your initial ideas, outlines, and drafts
3. Applying AI to adjust your style and tone for your specific audience (customers, subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, etc.)
4. Incorporating AI to improve your writing during editing (improve grammar, clarity, and conciseness)
5. Ensuring that your overall writing process is faster and more efficient

Eric Tung is an English Instructor at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Extended Learning and an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice at Simon Fraser University (SFU) Beedie School of Business.
As a Principal Consultant at Prolepsis Consulting, Eric designs and delivers customized business, proposal, and technical writing workshops to numerous organizations, including engineering, construction, and consulting firms. In addition to writing workshops, he also designs and delivers custom courses on leadership development, business transformation and change management, customer service, presentations, facilitation, negotiation, sales, team building, train-the-trainer, and other workshop topics.
Eric is also a business transformation and senior change management consultant, where he advises firms on large-scale organizational-wide changes. He has extensive experience leading and implementing transformation programs and projects, and works with both internal and external stakeholders to assess and support organizational readiness. Eric coaches staff across all levels and works extensively with both public and private sector organizations.
