This course provides an overview of the Canadian immigration system as it applies to construction employers.

As labour shortages, cross- border projects and skills mobility become increasingly common, a working knowledge of immigration frameworks and compliance requirements is essential.

This session examines how immigration policies intersect with workforce planning and project delivery within the Canadian construction sector. Practical examples and compliance considerations relevant to the construction industry will be discussed.

Objectives

Upon completing this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand key immigration trends affecting the construction sector in Canada and globally.
  • Understand common temporary and permanent immigration pathways used by construction employers.
  • Recognize employer obligations and compliance requirements when recruiting internationally, including documentation, reporting, and audit considerations.

Nicholas Bourolias, Senior Business Immigration Manager, USA and Canada Immigration Lawyer, Fragomen (Canada) Co.
Nicholas Bourolias is a Canadian and U.S. Immigration Lawyer at Fragomen, where he advises on complex corporate immigration and global mobility matters. He is dedicated to delivering clear, practical solutions in a fast-paced international environment, with a strong emphasis on precision, client service, and effective problem-solving. Nicholas brings over a decade of experience in immigration law, including his prior role as an adjudicating officer with the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program. 
 
Patrick O’Leary, Director, Fragomen (Canada) Co.
Patrick O’Leary is a global mobility and immigration professional with over a decade of experience across business immigration, refugee law, and international talent mobility. Based in Toronto, he is a Director at Fragomen, where he leads strategic initiatives to enhance global immigration solutions and client service delivery. Previously, Patrick held senior leadership roles at Talent Beyond Boundaries, including Chief Operating Officer and Global Program Director, where he oversaw global operations and helped scale programs connecting skilled refugees with international employment opportunities.
 
Ayana Ibrahimi, Business Immigration Manager, Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant, RCIC, Fragomen (Canada) Co.
Ayana Ibrahimi is a Registered Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) at Fragomen, where she advises on Canadian permanent residence and citizenship matters. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Queen’s University Faculty of Law, teaching in the Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law. Ayana brings over 15 years of experience in immigration law and policy.
 

This course is delivered in partnership with local and provincial construction associations across Canada. You may be participating with a group of industry peers from multiple regions.
